Padua, October 2019
Padua is well known for its columns and Antonio Palladio, its churches and Saint Ahntony of Padua, and its university and Galileo Galilei.
It is also a city of water, though. It sits on the river Bacchiglione, 40km west of Venice, a river that once acted as a moat, circling the old city’s walls. The waterways are still there and well worth a stroll, to view the palatial buildings that the waterways attracted.

Many, many , many years ago, I stayed in Padua to visit Venice – so much cheaper than Venice.
This time I stayed inVenice for the biennale but me lack of preparation meant I hadn’t realised the Biennale is closed on Monday! So I went to Padua for the day.
