Splashes of yellow buttercups

View to St Albans Cathedral, Hertfordshire, April 2020

Five seconds with a mix of holding the camera steady and moving it up and down, gives this gently blurred image. The combination of length of shutter speed; when and where you hold steady; and the speed and direction of movement, all come together to give the image that you want. But it may take a few attempts to get exactly what you are after.

  1. Love the painterly effect, Debbie. And many thanks for letting us at All Seasons in on the secret:) Just thought when getting over here that it has been ages that I have seen the buttercups in the meadows in Holland. It’s probably to warm and too dry for them here. Have an adventurous week, Jesh.
