A bright street scene by artists Lawrence and Arron Hosannah, St Leonards-on-Sea, created Feb 2020
Local artists Lawrence and Arron Hosannah approached the St Leonards council with the idea for a mural on a large boring wall alongside the steps between London Road and Alfred Street. With permission obtained, they also received funding from the Arts Council and Hastings Borough Council.
The artists used archive material from Hastings Museum and Art Gallery to research images for the mural, with the the postcard collection being particularly helpful.

All that hard work and research paid off beautifully with this wall. I was so impressed that postcards from the past came to life and really brightened this area.

Marvellous! Hastings seems to have come on a bit in the 10 years since I last visited.

I don’t know it very well but the pier looked great when I visited last year. Very well cared for. Would be interesting to see it in high season – I might not be such a fan then!
