That’s a fabulous shot! I was curious how you managed to have one person still among all the movement but I’ve read your replies to other people so now I know 🙂 I thought I’d join in this week but as I couldn’t decide which meaning of ‘rush’ to choose, being me I went for both with an assortment of images: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-in-a-rush/

I love that shot. How long did he have to stay still to capture the movement of the passers-by as a blur?

Yes. He knew his modelling tactics! He even stood as though he was walking. Great for me the passer-by.

Takes courage to stand and stare in such a busy location. Love the shot captures the theme well. Never been to Japan but friends tell me that New York and London are quiet compared to rush hours Tokyo 🙂

That is true, but I have to say Tokyo was noticeable quieter last year. It seems that COVID and working from home has reduced the crowds.

I guess that is the same for all … it appears to be the lasting legacy of COVID (for better or worse)

Great shot – very clever. My rushes stayed still … https://margaret21.com/2024/01/07/the-rushes-of-kiplin-hall/

Did you use a time delay to get this or something else? I like it, although I’ll be going in a very different direction. 🙂 Thanks for posting early. I like to be able to link up before Sunday.

I did a long exposure of 0.4 sec. These busy crossings are a classic place to do a shot like this, and the bloke that is barely moving was posing for a photo. Another popular activity on this crossing.

It looks so cool! Did you photoshop or did the guy just happen to stand still while others rushed around him?
Personally, I’m really against rushing: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2024/01/07/the-writing-on-the-wall/

He stood still – posing for a photo! He did this several times, so I had plenty of goes at getting this shot.

It’s stellar! And – although I love photo editing and the possibilities it brings – but I find an analog effect so much more worthwhile, somehow.

Yes. It depends on the sort of photo for me. For street and travel I normally take a documentary approach which means nothing added or removed (apart from blobs of dirt). If I go more creative / abstract it is over the top and obvious.
