St Stephen’s Church, St Albans, Hertfordshire, June 2024

Founded in around AD948, St Stephen’s is one of the three churches positioned at the main entrances to St Alban’s to welcome the pilgrims coming to visit the shrine of St Alban at St Albans Abbey. All three are still active churches.
Now over to all of you. Do come and join us in our Saturday six-word musings.
I’ll admit that many of us openly break the numeric rule and share far more words (all excellent of course!) so the key rule is to have a title of six words – and then create around that the post that you desire! Perhaps in bunches of 6 words if you’re feeling inspired.
To join the challenge, please put a link in your post to the URL of this post. Then come back here and leave us a comment. If you have any problems with linking, just put your own URL into the comment. And do feel free to socialise digitally with the hashtags #SixWordSaturday and #6WS. You’ll find me on Instagram @travel_travel_with_intent and @dsmythphoto

Such history! 1000 years ago the land I lived on was a swamp. Here are flowers from our garden: https://fakeflamenco.com/2024/07/06/orange-you-a-volunteer-this-summer/

lovely old church, and a not too tended churchyard. Here’s mine for today, again with something-of-the-church: https://suejudd.com/2024/07/06/an-interesting-line-up-of-six/

A good theme, David. And I have to say my garden’s greenery is growing actively as I type here – by the time this rain finishes I may need a scythe to trim the lawn

This loooks a nice not-too-much-tended space.

It is a lovely spot of greenery on my walk into town, and there are a few areas marked off as wild.

The church that I had to attend was St Stephens. I had a look last year when I was in Sydney. It is no longer a CofE church and has huge barred gates. I have no idea what happened to the small graveyard either.
So I decided on another place where evil doers get punished 😂

St Stephen obviously got around a lot

Not as much as St Patrick I found over the last few months travelling around. Almost every town west of me has a St Patricks, including Grafton my nearest town
