Hotel Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, September 2022

This seventeen-floor concrete honeycomb stands on Amir Temir Square in Tashkent. The interior has lost some of its glamour but outside you can still enjoy the bold Soviet architecture.

Sadly, this is the last day of Becky’s geometric challenge, though I may well have a couple more squares to share. It’s a theme I find hard to let go of. A big thank you to Becky for getting us all to explore and share the fascinating topic of geometry.

Yes, it really dominates the square. In its heyday it would have been THE place to stay

I’m NOT staying there! Did you?

No! I wandered over a couple of times to admire it, and I ventured inside just to see. I think the rooms would be rather basic. It seems to be operating as a lowish-end business hotel and was full of men.

Hmmm. Not too inviting then.

Indeed.
I’m often tempted to book a room at places like this but not stay there – just get in for a good look around. And take photos!

woah – that is an incredible building. Very different to the concrete structure I shared on my Portuguese post yesterday but just as splendid.
I have loved your geometric travels this month, you have taken us to some amazing places and like you I have a few geometric squares left over. Squares is addictive!

Squares rule!
And your theme was a perfect fit for the square 🙂
Glad you’ve enjoyed my geometry, Becky. I think my camera might be set on square for a little while – it’s a great way of looking at things.
