The foundation stone of the current library building was laid by the Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald in 1930. Building works took four years and the building was finally opened by King George V on 17 July 1934.
Eighty years on and this magnificent building has undergone a major renovation and is now open again.

Great capture! Kids are so inquisitive.

Great shot. The shadow is so different to the actual subject. 😀

Great to hear about a library that is being re-opened! Too often we hear of them being closed nowadays! Lovely image 🙂

We’ve had a couple if major ones refurbished here. Birmingham has done the same. But smaller ones are closing.
