In Sète, the Pont de la Gare was undergoing major renovation work this summer. A floating pontoon was positioned close to the main bridge, provided a bouncy walk on thick plastic-looking tiles.
Sète is the Venice of the Langedoc Roussillon area of France, and has a number of bridges, that open at fixed times to allow boats in and out. This floating bridge, was no exception.

I have some friends who moor there in Winter sometimes. 🙂 That first is such a good, strong image, Debs.

Good friends to have! I adore Sete – it is a place full of character, and with brilliant seafood

I’ve never been, sadly. They’re part of my walking group in the Algarve. 🙂

Oh, you must! It’s twinned with Hartlepool you know – you could do a contrast and compare!

a slightly odd feeling, but I liked the bounce and it’s eco-friendly – completely recyclable

I’ve never seen anything like this bridge before. Wonderful idea and seems practical on calm waters. Wonderful photos.

Yes, the feet would get a bit wet in bad weather – but it is strong an resilient to storm apparently.
