“Almighty Dollar” Coney Island, New York, February 2017
This modern Last Supper made an official appearance at Coney Art Walls 2016.
The original version was the work of Leonardo da Vinci in the late 15th century, depicting the reactions of the disciples to Jesus’ announcement that there was a traitor in the room. This 21st century version is the detailed stencil work of street artists Icy and Sot.
This reminded of another piece of Last supper street art that I saw in Dublin a while ago. You can check that out here.

Nice piece of street art!

Yes. The main funfair area was closed so I couldn’t access to all of the pieces of art, but it looked a very impressive collection.

I’m afraid I need tutoring on who all the personages are. I do recognize Queen Elizabeth. But I appreciate the tongue in cheek commentary. Thanks for contributing to this week’s Monday Mural.

He’s a lovely gentle man, the son (as you know by now) of Woody Guthrie–take a chance, look up “fools rush in” on YouTube, with Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger.

this is hysterical. Less than subtle, but funny. I did notice that the man whose head brushes against the “C” on the right side resembles Arlo Guthrie quite strongly. Not sure who he’s intended to represent but I keep seeing Arlo in there…

Ha! I admit I didn’t know who Arlo Guthrie is, but Wikipedia came to my aid! I see the likeness!
