You’ll know by now that I love walking across the Firth of Forth. I’ve been watching, with interest and admiration, the building of the new road bridge, the Queensferry Crossing. I’ve even been out by boat a couple of times to get a different view of this fantastic structure.
Progress coming on well in August 2016
The construction work has undergone a few delays but the building work is now complete. Installation of extras, such as electricity, is well underway and the bridge will open to traffic on 30 August this year.
There is also a special event booked for the weekend after it opens – the bridge will be closed to traffic that weekend and open to walkers, but numbers are limited and a ballot has been running for tickets to take the walk. More than 225,000 people put their name into the selection, hoping to be pulled out as one of the 50,000 lucky winners. Needless to say, my name went in, and my fingers are crossed for a happy result.
Whether that comes off or not, I’ll be sure to drive across. In the meantime, I’m up in Edinburgh for a few days and weather and work permitting I’ll be out for one of my walks and photo shoots. For now, here is a quick catch up on the bridge’s growth.

I was there in August 2015, surprised to see they haven’t finished it yet but I guess delays happen in these things. Will be interesting to see it finally finished. Good luck for a ticket!
