Knowing about the English weather, at least in Edinburgh the sun was shining:) The design is great for a black and white! Many thanks for linking up with All Seasons!
The gardens themselves date back to 1772.
The monument is to 1st Viscount Melville (1742-1811), a man once described as ‘the uncrowned king of Scotland’. The 150ft tall column was designed in 1821

I’ve had glorious days there in spring and autumn, but summer seems to be wet these days. I’ve not seen these deckchairs in action before!
The pillar is boring on its own. The people pretty uninteresting. But in the one picture together, the contrast produces a different atmosphere entirely.

Great shot from Edinburgh, I’m curious about the pillar, if it’s fairly new or if there’s any history behind it.
Have a great week!

The chairs were bought on the 2013 budget. That is why they look brand new. 😉

Glad you like it! I found that black and white gave it that classic feeling – looks like a traditional British summer
Thank you for the award nomination. I am very honoured
However I do not accept awards – I prefer these awards to go to blogging newcomers.

It seems Edinburgh has had pleasant weather. Like the way you show the height of the column – it goes up for ever!

I just had a short trip there and was pretty lucky with the weather. It’s a very pleasant square – when the sun shines!
