Brainstorm by João Maurício, Lisbon, May 2017
This wordy and watery tree is the work of Portuguese street artist João Maurício, aka Violant. It was painted as part of the 2014 Passeio Literário da Graça project that celebrates the works of a number of Portuguese writers.
This piece depicts a tree-come-book on which we see some verses by Florbela Espana (1894 – 1930), a Portuguese poet know for her erotic and feminist literary history.

Enjoying street art has become a regular event on my travels around the world: more of my findings can be seen here

I could look at this one for ages, the more you look the more stories and symbols pop out!

I’m always amazed by the work of street artists. The size and physical discomforts and challenges of street work does not reduce the amount of detail or artistic content.

That’s a nice one Debbie, I haven’t come across it on my visits to Lisbon, but there are so many murals there, it’s hard to see them all.

Clever mural. And, I know, not the point, but: Beautiful flowers, too.
