Charnel House or “bone house”, Hallstatt, Austria, May 2018
Welcome to One Word Sunday, and over to all of you to join the challenge with your own skull post. Much as I was tempted to show some street art, I have gone with a literal interpretation this week. Over to you to stretch the word as wide as you like.
To join the challenge, create a new post inspired by this week’s word, and then link your work to this post. You can use a pingback by putting a link in your post to the URL of this post, allowing others to have the opportunity to visit and join the challenge. Then come back here and leave us a comment.
If you have any problems with linking via pingback, just add your own URL into your comment.

Thanks to everyone who brought us some movement last week – there were plenty of interpretations, but the overall impression you all left me with was joy and excitement. Special mention to Nicole for showing us a dog in energetic bliss; to Sue who inspired us with a great variety of approach; Maria who presented an entrancing shot with both motion and emotion; and, Sandy for a very cool (in more way than one) fox.
If you didn’t have chance to check them out, the links are below.

Next week’s theme will be puzzle.

Very appropriate – skulls have certainly influenced a lot of art work

At first I cringed at the topic (not that into
Skulls or stuff that has skulls on it -like clothes or certain drinks – ha!) but it has been fun to see your entries and the others coming out this week.

Bone house – what an appropriate name! Am surprised so many found a skull:)
Here’s mine. have a great week ahead! Here, it’s raining cats and dogs, and the valleys have turned to creeks and rivers. See ya at All Seasons:)

I’m glad that rain has made an appearance, and not on my head! I didn’t make it to All Seasons as I was in sunny but cold Venice
I was surprised about the quantity of skulls too, Jesh. I thought many people would take a wider interpretation, but clearly nature, art, halloween and day of the Dead reach most of us.

Last time when we were in Southern Calif. in Oct. we ran into a celebration on the day of the dead in the Old Town park, the first time I ever took some pics of skulls, lol! Otherwise I would have taken a wider interpretation:)

The places that have a collection of skulls are interesting, that’s for sure. I went literal this week as well, a “decoration” outside our cabin in Wyoming. 🙂

Decoration might not be quite the right term! But thanks for giving us some reality!

Whatever you do with a skull, they are always a little… chilling. Another interesting photo, Debbie.

It was fascinating, and not what you expect in Hallstatt, which is a stunningly beautiful place.

Hopefully this isn’t too lateral – or an opt out! https://justsnaps.wordpress.com/2019/03/03/one-word-sunday-skull/

No opt outs possible – I always welcome a wide, or wild, interpretation 🙂

Imagine you didn’t have to chose your tombstone but what words you wanted painted on your skull and in what colours. That’d be more permanent than a tattoo.
I wanted to show a tattoo but went with a tombstone … and streetart, of course!

I liked your choices. Though a tattoo would have been welcome too
